Allison Kenneth Scribner, Jr.

Norfolk - Ken, formerly of Portsmouth, VA and a resident of Harbor's Edge in Norfolk, passed away during the early morning hours of his 90th birthday, October 9, 2014. Ken was born in Portsmouth in 1924 to Allison Kenneth Scribner, Sr. and Marie Dougan Scribner. He was married to Sue Bradford Faulkner Scribner for 54 wonderful years, prior to her death in 2002. He was also predeceased by his son, Allison Kenneth Scribner, III. Ken was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, VA, Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, Harvard College, the College of William and Mary, and The Advanced Management Program (AMP59) at Harvard University. During World War II, Ken was a B-29 Navigator, Pacific Theater, and his airplane was named City of Portsmouth. He went on to have an exciting 31 year business career with Virginia Chemicals, Inc. in Portsmouth, VA. Ken is survived by his son, John Charles Faulkner Scribner and wife, Anne, of Chesapeake, VA, his daughter, Joan Elizabeth Scribner Osgood and husband, Bryan, of Citra, FL, and daughter-in-law Sarah Scribner of Richmond, VA. Also left to cherish his memory, are eight grandchildren, Allison Marie Scribner Gehman and husband, Christopher of Glen Allen, VA, Nicholas Anthony Scribner and wife, Kristen of Chesapeake, VA, Meredith Anne Scribner of New York City, Noah Kenneth Scribner of Raleigh, N.C., Matthew Osgood of Asheville, N.C., Michelle M. Osgood of Maui, Hawaii, Corey Osgood of Citra, FL, and Evan Osgood of Citra, FL. Ken was a great-grandfather to Haley Mae Scribner and Charles Hendrick Scribner of Chesapeake, and John Allison Gehman and Webster Winthrop Gehman of Glen Allen. Ken was a dedicated philanthropist and champion of many causes. His interest in several projects and charities gave his life special purpose. With that in mind, his family requests any remembrances be made in his name to one's favorite charity. A celebration luncheon to honor Ken's life is planned for a future date.

J.C. And family, your father will long be remembered. He kept me on my toes for years and certainly had a heart for CHKD and our nurses he helped educate. My thoughts are with you and Joanie and the extended family.
