Barbara Draper Obituary
Mechanicsville - Draper, Barbara Jean Johnson, 77, a native of Norfolk and 1954 graduate of Maury High School, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Reverend James Draper; daughter Lynne Draper Studeman (Michael CAPT USN), and grandsons Noah and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Deborah Draper Dalton. Barbara was a consummate pastor's wife and a true partner in her husband's ministry. She shared her musical talents through singing, ringing, accompaniment and directing. She authored a collection of touching and humorous stories of her life in "The Human Side of Holiness". She was cherished by many extended family members as well as many United Methodist Congregations across Virginia. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Shady Grove United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 14, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers , donations may be sent to the Senior Adult Council of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 8209 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.

Jim and family; We are saddened to hear about Barbara's passing. We have very fond memories of both of you when you were our Pastor at St. John's. I especially remember getting ice-cream after UMW meetings with her and Anne. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with you. (We moved back to our Shenandoah Valley roots) two years ago.
