Belva Comba Obituary

Belva Lynn (Odom) Comba, age 94, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, in Florence, SC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3rd at Belk Funeral Home from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will follow at 11am in the Belk Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will immediately follow at Grove Hill Cemetery. Later that day at 4pm will be a Celebration of Life Service at The Manor in the Mary Alice Ingram Chapel at 2100 Twin Church Road in Florence, SC.

Belva Lynn was born on March 8, 1929, in Darlington, SC to the late Ernest M. Odom and Minnie (Register) Odom.

Mrs. Comba graduated from St. John's High School and attended Coker College, Hartsville, SC, after which she spent a total of 42 years in Customer Service and Sales within the paper industry. Her career began in Darlington with Dixie Cup Company where she spent 20 years. She retired in October 1987, from James River Corporation, in CT, and moved from Ridgefield to Virginia Beach with her husband, Joe.

While living in Virginia Beach, she was very active in her church, Virginia Beach United Methodist and held various offices in the Beasley Bible Class as well as the United Methodist women's Circles. She served on the Administrative Board of the church and volunteered her services in the church office. She also worked with the "Urban Ministry Group" in the Potter's House. Belva Lynn came home to South Carolina to spend her last years at The Manor with family and long-time friends. The Manor staff and employees were always kind and ready to take care of all her needs. She enjoyed the food and her time with fellow residents. She volunteered much of her time in the Mary Alice Ingram Chapel during services. One of Belva's greatest joys in life was helping others.

Belva Lynn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph J. Comba; her son, Ronald Glynn Peavey, stepdaughter Mary Jo (William F.) Berg: and two stepsisters in law Mrs. Ethel (Comba) Reimer of Cascade, CO, and Mrs. Dorothy (Comba) Reilly of the Bronx, NY.

She leaves behind her step-daughters, Patricia (Timothy) Sykora of Pinehurst, NC; Eileen (John) Pambianchi, and Diane (Dave) Brautigam both of Ridgefield, CT; a step-son-in law William F. Berg also of Ridgefield, CT; step-grandchildren Morgan (Matthew) Mitcho of Raleigh, NC; Devin (Jessica) Berg of Narrangansett, RI; Matthew (Lisa) Pambianchi of Andover, MA; and Nicholas (Lauren) Pambianchi of Ridgefield, CT; and many step-great grandchildren: Elle Pambianchi, Gray, Mary Wynn and Hayes Mitcho; Bryce Berg; Jack, Cole and Kyle Pambianchi. Plus, numerous cousins (especially Ginny Defee) and many longtime friends.
