Carolyn Markie Obituary

We mourn the loss of Carolyn Mansfield Winn Markie, born on April 2, 1941, in Norfolk, VA to Charles Edgar Winn and Carrie Elizabeth Mansfield. An alumni of Maury High School, Deep Creek High School (Lost Class of '59), and Brenau University, where she joined the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

She held roles in numerous organizations, including the Jr League of Norfolk/Va Beach and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also renowned for her leadership at the International Azalea Ball in Norfolk and Jazz Aspen Galas. Carolyn had a successful career as a real estate agent in Norfolk, VA and Aspen, CO. Her keen interest in genealogy led her to complete and publish the "Marriages in Mathews County Virginia: 1861-1900".

She leaves behind her children; Cory Dorathy, Carter Miller Johnson (David), and Meredith Miller Lieb (Robert), as well as 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, husbands William McCormack, Monte Miller and Ronald Markie.

Carolyn was an extraordinary woman, full of life and love. We celebrate her life and contributions. Her remarkable spirit will forever be treasured. May she rest in peace. There will be a small gathering to pay respect on Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church located at 201 St. Paul's Blvd in Norfolk VA in the chapel at 10:00 am.
