Following a lengthy battle with lung cancer, Clifford Earle Nix (Cliff) went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2021. Cliff was born June 30, 1943, to Clifford Monroe Nix and Gloria Liverman Nix and grew up on Benefit Road in Chesapeake, VA, where he was a member of Good Hope Methodist Church. After serving as President of Great Bridge High Student Body in 1961 and being recognized as a scholar and athlete, he attended Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 1965.
Cliff proudly served two years in the U. S. Army. He then worked for the DuPont Company for 30 years, in several operations and HR leadership roles in multiple locations. Beginning in 1995, he spent five years with Reliance Industries, living and working in Surat and Mumbai, India, where he led a major expansion project. He returned to the US in 1999 and resided in Kill Devil Hills, NC where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.
In 2004, Cliff and his wife, Nancy, moved to Aledo, TX where he attended Parker County Cowboy Church. In 2017, they relocated to Denton, TX where he attended the Denton County Cowboy Church. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He also loved to play Pickleball and equally enjoyed the competitiveness and camaraderie of his Pickleball friends.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 34 years, Dr. Nancy Nix; sons Jay (Tammy Robertson) and Steve Nix; stepsons Eric (Jen) and Kevin (Jess) Wertman; and grandchildren Cash and Noah Nix, and Alex, Sabrina, and Tyler Wertman. He is also survived by his sisters June Nix and Bonnie Nix Curling and brother-in-law Billy Curling Sr., as well as his nieces Susan Smith and Kelley Jones and nephews Bud Hall and Billy Curling Jr., who all reside locally. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and a friend and mentor to each and will be missed by all.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake. The interment will follow in Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
