Connor Kenneth Tiffany, 19, passed unexpectedly from this world on Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Boston, MA. A freshman at Dartmouth College, Connor was a 2020 Norfolk Academy graduate and also attended The Williams School. At Norfolk Academy (NA) he was a member of the Honor Council, co-captain of varsity swimming and crew, a Batten Leadership Program Global Health Fellow and the recipient of several awards based on his personal integrity and academic achievements, including the Charles Forsyth Wirth Award. Most importantly, he will be remembered as someone who elevated every person he met with his smile, friendliness, enthusiasm, humility and gentle soul.
In his short time with us, Connor used his intellectual gifts and genuine empathy to make the world a better place. Over more than a year's time, he developed a computer curriculum to help underserved students in Belize gain admission to high school. He selflessly skipped his junior prom to guide a group of underclass fellows at a global health conference. Despite being the only teenager in attendance, he presented his research paper on mechanical ventilation management at the 2019 Pediatric Academic Societies meeting, an amazing testament to his focus and drive. With his Dad trying to keep up, he raised $3800 cycling 100 miles in the Tour De Cure for Diabetes Research.
Connor will be forever remembered for his curiosity and caring nature. We laugh remembering how at a young age he could identify cars by their symbols or shapes before he knew his colors; we thought he was color blind! Later in his youth, his fascination with commercial planes, the airline industry and flight patterns consumed his always active mind. One of the NA faculty best summed Connor up in a note his senior year, "Like the aircraft that fascinate you, the sky barely begins to describe your limit. You are passionate, purposeful, insanely gifted and driven. But what makes you even more unique is how remarkably genuine, down to earth, and kind you are. You take more pride in bettering and meaningfully collaborating with others than you do in your own individual accomplishments."
There is a common thread that runs through the NA and Dartmouth communities who knew Connor well. Consistently they have independently recounted stories to us that reflect his kindness, his intellect, his friendliness and his beautiful smile. Your NA classmate captured your essence perfectly in saying, "Connor just made everything happier and better." Our broken hearts are buoyed by these memories!
The outpouring of support by the communities who knew Connor has been overwhelming and uplifting. He touched the lives of so many and we are forever grateful to everyone who helped shape his life's journey. Thank you to everyone who has so thoughtfully and generously reached out to us in our time of immense grief and sorrow. Our hope is that each of you remember Connor's smile, warmth and kindness and that he will impact your lives and all those around you forever more.
Connor, our love of you and your brother Parker will forever endure, carried forward by the laughter the two of you shared and the memories of so many family trips taken. We will always remember your irresistible smile, infectious passion and love of learning, travel and politics. You will always be a shining light in our lives. May your beautiful soul rest in peace, dear Connor.
