Daniel Johnson Obituary
Norfolk - Daniel Holloway Johnson, 43, died June 8, 2012 after a battle with melanoma cancer. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee. A graduate of Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia, he received a Bachelors of Arts in German and International Studies from University of Richmond and a Masters in International Relations from Old Dominion University.
He is survived by his wife Dr. Emily Schley, his daughter Amanda Wentworth Johnson, his parents David and Alice Johnson of Burnsville NC, a sister Meredith Johnson Gelman of Washington, DC, a brother Nathan Johnson of Brevard, NC, and many loving and supportive aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members, and long standing friends.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his dog Asher, and strumming the guitar with his friends.
In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Emily Couric Cancer Center at the University of Virginia or the Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk, Virginia. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.

I have fond memories of Daniel from ours days at VES and I am greatly saddened by his passing at such a young age. My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Emily, Amanda, David and Alice,
Dan went to VES and the University of Richmond with me and also Jeff Hamm. He was my little brother in the SAE fraternity at U of R. He was a super nice guy and always a lot of fun to be around and well liked by all who met him!

Danny boy. You will be missed. A great spark you were. I will fulfill my promise to find your daughter one day to tell her what a great man you were. We had great times at VES and SAE at UR. Your brothers are saddened by the news. I am heartbroken that I did not know sooner. May God's love hold you in the palm of his hand. Farewell my friend.
