Daniel Rudisill Obituary

Daniel N. Rudisill Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Daniel Niell Rudisill Sr. passed away June 27, 2010. Born in South Carolina, he was the son of the late William and Annie Lee Rudisill. Daniel was a graduate of Newberry College in Newberry, S.C., and retired from the Dept. of Justice as an immigration investigator. He was the founding president of the National Federal Investigators Union. Daniel was a veteran of World War II with the Army Air Corps, trained as a B-29 pilot, and on the way of being a tailgunner at the end of the war. He was a 50-year member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. He leaves behind his three children, the Rev. James Rudisill Sr. and his wife Mary Mooney Rudisill of Merry Hill, N.C., Patricia Jean Rudisill of Ohio, and Debra Ann Mallon and her husband Patrick of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, James Rudisill Jr., Deanna Mari Overman, Rachel Leah Mehalek, Molly Jean Casey, Rebecca Lynn Gleason, Daniel Niell Rudisill III, Jason Patrick Mallon, and Brian Daniel Mallon; 13 great -grandchildren, Trevor Scott Casey, Riley Lynn Casey, Skyler Acklen-McKenzie Trujillo, Stephen James Mehalek, Chelsea Anne Mehalek, Jay Anthony Mehalek, Julius Augustus Mehalek, Grace Elizabeth Overmann, Paul Michael Overmann, Sharon Sinead Rudisill, Mary Paige Rudisill, Dallas Michael Rudisill, and Forrest Grey Rudisill; his sister, Anniel Bevis of Clemson, S.C.; and his brother, William Bentley Rudisill Jr. of San Antonio, Texas. Daniel has been greeted in heaven by his wife, Hazel "Peggy" Rudisill; his son, Daniel Niell Rudisill Jr.; his grandson, Benjamin Dan Rudisill; his great- grandson, James Daniel Rudisill; his sister, Mary Beth Tucker; and his brother, Zeb Niell Rudisill. The family invites friends to come to New Life at Great Bridge, a church at 1116 Hillwell Road, Chesapeake, Thursday, July 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hope Haven Children's Home, 3000 North Landing Road, Virginia Beach. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
