David Ledbetter Obituary

David S. Ledbetter
Virginia Beach - David Scott Ledbetter, age 55, passed away on December 2, 2011 in a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. Ledbetter was a native of Norfolk, Virginia but had made his home in Virginia Beach for most of his adult life. David was a person of great charisma with many good and loyal friends and he sincerely treasured each and every one of them. Blessed with a quick wit he loved a good laugh but never at the expense of others. Skiing, surfing and tennis were the sports David most enjoyed in his younger and healthier days. An avid fisherman David had much success in that endeavor, winning citations for his larger catches. He planted a vegetable garden each spring and looked forward to seeing it come to fruition. An amateur chef and innovative cook he enjoyed sharing his gastronomical delights with family and friends. David is survived by Bernadette Cahill the love of his life and companion for twenty-three years, his parents, Joseph Daniel 'Dan' Ledbetter and Betty Sue Coffield Ledbetter all of Virginia beach. A sister, Penny L. Schwartz and husband John, of Leesburg, VA, a brother Joseph Daniel 'Dan' Ledbetter, Jr. and wife Patti of Newport News, VA, several nieces and nephews and a great nephew. David was preceded in death by his beloved sister and 'best buddy' Sherry L. Cason. David will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. A reception will follow at the home of Michael and Alexis Cahill Doughtie, 516 Gleneagle Drive, Virginia Beach. Burial will be private and at a later date. Flowers are welcome, however, donations in memory of David can be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 870 Greenbrier Circle, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Independence Blvd. is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be expressed at www.hollomon-brown.com.
