Doris Helen Ledbetter

Doris Helen (Martinets) Ledbetter, age 92, of Temple passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Doris was born on August 22, 1933, in Holland, to William Vincent Martinets and Anna Katherine Beyer Martinets.

Doris grew up in Salado for eleven years and then Holland where she graduated from Holland High School in 1951. Doris spent her entire life in Bell County, where she built deep roots in her community and church. On September 10, 1950, she married the love of her life, James Weldon Ledbetter, in Holland. The couple shared many years together until James's passing in 2004. Doris worked for many years at Temple Area Federal Credit Union which is now Texell. She was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and warm personality. She was a faithful member of Temple Brethren Church for many years where she was a member of the Christian sisters group. Doris was very artistic and enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts and playing the organ. She loved staying busy. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, yard work, and most of all spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly..

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Weldon Ledbetter; her son, James Weldon Ledbetter II; her daughter Jaclyn Zabcik, her brothers Billy Martinets and Alton Martinets, and her sister Lillian Rose Martinets.

She is survived by her twin brother: Douglas Martinets (Minnie) of Temple, granddaughters: Kelli Hargrove (Cory) of Little River-Academy, Donica Zabcik (Heath) of Temple, Emmy Klein (Brock) of Arlington, her grandsons: James Weldon Ledbetter III (Jenna) of Salado, and John Henry Zabcik (Emily) of Carthage.

She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren: Ethan, Hunter, Wyatt, Whitley, Aidan, Amelia, Jaclyn, Zachariah, Piper, and Novie.

A funeral service will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 o'clock a.m., with Bro. Mark Labaj and Bro. Larry Zabcik officiating. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 o'clock p.m. to 8 o'clock p.m. Following the service, Doris will be buried in Holland Cemetery.

Doris will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, creativity, and devotion to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the many lives she touched.
