Dinnie Freeman Obituary
Portsmouth - Dinnie Freeman, 73, was called to rest on Monday, December 11, 2017, he was the son of the late Dinnie and Edna Freeman. He was born June 30, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA. He was predeceased in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Helen Brown; brothers, Willie Freeman, Robert Freeman, Anthony Freeman and daughter Tiffany Whitley. Dinnie was married to Avis Vann Freeman for 26 years and was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all of his siblings. He was retired from the City of Portsmouth after 30 years of service and from Walmart after 8 years of service. Dinnie was one of the quiet Freeman Boys who were always pleasant with a warm smile. He was a family man who loved and appreciated his family, did all he could for them. He was a member of St. Mark Deliverance Center, Portsmouth, VA. All who knew him loved him and he will be truly missed. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife Avis; daughters Chanel Vann Tillman, Ebony Vann, Patria Waters (Dario); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, James Alvin (Beatrice), John (Dorothy), Larry (Carol); one sister in law Sylvia Freeman, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held, 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Portsmouth Chapel.

Dinnie(Wine)has been a family friend all of my life and before. He was like a family member stopping by to visit my parents(Dickie and Fannie Prunty) engaging in long conversations about Lincolnsville and Lincoln Park. He was truly a caring and every cheerful person. Heartfelt sympathy goes out to his immediate and extend family!
