Dorothy Gummer Obituary


Dorothy E. Radz Gummer VIRGINIA BEACH - Dorothy E. Radz Gummer, 88, wife of the late Arthur W. Gummer, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Born in Troy, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline Cook Radz. She attended Troy schools and was employed at Samaritan Hospital in Troy for many years, retiring 28 years ago. She resided in Wynantskill, N.Y., for many years and in Virginia Beach for the last 19 years. Mrs. Gummer was a member of the Church of Latter-day Saints in Loudonville, N.Y. and Virginia Beach. She was an avid bowler for many years at Highway Recreation in Wynantskill. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Sawyer of Virginia Beach; two sons, Arthur "Bill" Gummer of Wynantskill, who is the Chief Deputy Fire Coordinator for Rensselaer County and Donald Gummer, also of Virginia Beach and a brother, Harold Radz Jr. of Scotia, N.Y. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Radz, who died in 2007. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be in the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at the Church of Latter-day Saints in Loudonville. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions to the Wynantskill Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 174, Wynantskill, N.Y. 12198 in memory of Mrs. Gummer would be appreciated.
