Ernest Clarke Obituary


Ernest Clarke NEWPORT NEWS - Ernest Clarke, 68, of the 500 block of South Trellis Court, passed away July 20, 2008, in Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. He was born Feb. 2, 1940, to the late Viola Boomer Clarke and William Clarke in Pantego, N.C. Ernest was a self-employed truck driver for 35 years. He was the pastor of True Believers of Christ Christian Church and most recently he co-pastored at Fruit of the Spirit Baptist Church. Ernest was a member of the Soul Stirrers and was also founder and member of the Word Singers and Men and Women of Faith. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalyn T. Clarke and one sister, Earlene Boomer Walker. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Katrina Clarke, Mia Smith and Lashelle Joyner; two sons, Antonio Clarke and Wayne Clarke; one brother, William Clarke Jr.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
