Eula Parris Obituary

Eula B. Parris PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Eula Bessie Parris, 92, passed away peacefully Dec. 7, 2009 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Eula was born Feb. 21, 1917 in Bessemer City, N.C., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Worth Albert Smith. She was the widow of Leonard Clayton Parris Jr. and was also predeceased by a daughter, Jeannie Kuhlman. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved caring for her home and taking extra good care of her family. She was a former member of Collinswood Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. She was strong in her faith and was a true blessing to everyone. Those left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Betty JoAnn Varni and husband Randy, Brenda Kay Hoover and husband Bill, Barbara Jo Luckert, Tina D. Brown and husband David, and Patricia L. Mason and husband James; two sons, Richard A. Morgan and wife Joyce and Gary M. Parris and wife Terry; 19 wonderful grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wright and Faye Council; and two brothers, Bobby Smith and Worth Albert Smith Jr. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
