Eunice Cale Obituary

Eunice C. Cale BELVIDERE - Eunice Chappell Cale, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. Mrs. Cale was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Norman and Lizzie Chappell. A homemaker for most of her life, she worked at IXL Furniture Co. in Elizabeth City for more than 10 years as a control inspector. Later she was the first employee for the "Green Thumb" program at the Perquimans County Senior Center and was in charge of the "Telephone Reassurance" project, a service where residents were called each day as a check on their wellness and care. Later she became the assistant director of the Senior Center. Mrs. Cale was a member of Piney Woods Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Forrest Cale Sr. and brothers, Louis Norman Chappell and Gaither Chappell. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by sons, William F. "Billy" Cale Jr. of Kill Devil Hills and Jerry Cale and wife Sybil of Carrsville, Va.; her daughter, Cathy Nadeau and husband Lance of Chesapeake; sisters, Virginia Winslow of Belvidere and Orene Jordan of Greenville, N.C.; and two grandsons, Michael Cale and wife Katherine and Wilson Cale, all of Carrsville. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Piney Woods Friends Meeting by Pastor Ken Spivey. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. Friends may join the family Saturday in the church social hall both from 1 p.m. until service time and again following the graveside rites. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Piney Woods Friends Meeting, 900 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC 27919 or to the Alzheimer's Assn., Southeastern Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.

Billy & Cathy, So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a special lady and brought alot of joy to my dad. I think of her often.
May you find comfort in knowing she's at peace with God now.

Ms. Eunice was a firecracker and will be missed. She was very special and I feel lucky to have met her. I know she is taking long walks with Irene and probably getting into trouble together:) Lots of love until we meet again!
