I was blessed to serve under Rev. Dr. Campbell's leadership while a student at VUU from 1985-1988. His sermons were inspiring and his kindness was like Jesus Himself. Thank God that He allows us to experience people like Pastor G.G. in this life.

I moved to Richmond over 24 years ago and became the church secretary at Moore Street...which was my 1st job in VA...and I had the priviledge of working with Dr. Campbell. He was the one who got me to start coming to church...which resulted in a lot of my family members also attending and joining Moore Street. And I am still a devoted member. The earth has lost another angel too soon. Until we meet again...dear friend.

To the Campbell Family:
May God bless, keep and comfort you during your hours of bereavement.
Rev. Campbell, in 1958, was my 5th grade teacher, basketball and baseball coach @ Bell Mill School in Chesapeake, VA. Indeed, he was a scholar, martyr and an excellent teacher. In 2010, during my visit to Petersburg, VA, I visited First Baptist Church (he was the guest speaker/ former interim pastor) and we reminisced those formative years. I thank God for Rev's tutelage.
With sincere sympathy,

Although I can't be there physically, I will be there in spirit for today's homegoing service. Dr. G.G. Campbell was a wonderful man and a great leader. His memory will forever be etched in many of our hearts ...along with the phrase, "Great God Almighty!!" (smile) May he rest in peace after many years of being one of God's faithful servants and a true mentor and leader of the Richmond community.

My heartfelt prayers and deep abiding love and sympathy are extended to my Campbell family. Doc was my mentor and friend. It was at Moore St. baptist where I began pastoral work before going to Trinity Baptist Church in Baltimore, Md and serving as pastor in 1974. He married my late wife Philathia Reese and me in 1974 and ordained me. The Trinity Baptist family joins me in the loss of our beloved G G Campbell wishing you and yours God's continued care.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Campbell's family. We had a good relationship at Virginia Union.
In the mid 1970s, when Dr. Campbell was in his mid 50s and I was in my mid 30s, He gave me a good beating in table tennis. And I thought I was good.
Dr. Campbell was a gentleman and a scholar. Most importantly, he was a superb witness for his God.

To the Campbell family:
Thank you for sharing your Father as Pastor and friend. Like many other folks, our relationship went far beyond the four walls of Moore Street, although quite involved there. It went to other churches, restaurants, hospitals, VUU basketball & football, CIAA, community events, up and down the interstates, in the homes of friends and our personal homes. Pastor Campbell--Pop, a noble man. Roz, GG, Jr., & Family, we share your loss.
Peace & Love,
