Blessings to the Blevins family. I know God will give you strength during this difficult time. Allow your memories to bring you peace and joy, not sorrow - and may all your tears be in celebration of his life.

Mr. Blevins set the tone for behavior at Great Bridge High with his ability to listen patiently, speak kindly, and see the potential in each student. As a new student to the area in my freshman year, those qualities contributed to a wonderful high school experience for me. His genuine concern for our city and the state were revealed every day in his service in the legislature. We were well represented by such a fine gentleman. I am honored to have known him and will always be proud to be part of the Class of 1970 GBHS Wildcats.

It is so hard to sum up the contributions of this man in a few words. His quiet manner, sense of honor, and unfailing support for students and colleagues set an example that has shaped more lives than we can know. We were so blessed to have had Mr. Blevins as a role model at a time when impressions are so important. We were also blessed to have him represent our community and set an example as a statesman and elected official. My earliest and fondest memories of him are as "just" a dad to a friend - before I had him as my principal. I'm grateful to have witnessed directly his love for his family and I can only imagine how much he will be missed. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers for Linda, Mrs. Blevins and the entire Blevins clan. May his memory be eternal!

Harry you will be missed by all. You were truly a wonderful person. You had a gift that made everyone around you feel valued and important. I will always remember the great times we had together as colleagues of the Chesapeake School System and the rivalry between Great Bridge and Western Branch. Love to your wonderful family.

Mr. Blevins was an awesome man and I have often thought of him. I am proud to be a Wildcat and my high school experience was the best! Mr. Blevins was a great man and very engaged with all of the students! A positive role model in the life of students as well as the community! He now has his wings and well-deserved rest! I had the good fortune to know this soft spoken, kind and pensive man as my high school principal and as the wonderful father of Harry, Marsha, Danny and Linda. I remember MR Blevins very well. He was my Industrial arts teacher. He also was my JR HI football coach. He was a man of his word. He said anyone who could make it through football camp was on the team. I made it.He told me I could stay on the team but wouldn't play very much.He asked me if I was willing to give up my jersey for another player he wanted. I said yes because I knew Billy was very good.I ran Track tHE NEXT 4 yrs. I broke the school record for 2 miles.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Sen. Blevins in person but have had the distinct pleasure of knowing his talented son in law Lewis and Harry's beautiful daughter, Marsha and their precious, talented girls. All I can say is..the loss they must be feeling is more than great. And, my prayers for the family are many. As a father, school principal and later, working in government for us all..he truly was a hero. To bring out the best in people all around you..there is no greater gift. He made others better than they were before in helping them see through..his wonderful eyes..his vision of them instead of how they may have seen themselves. Always positive and always in tune with a higher power, his gifts, his legacy will always live on in his beautiful children and family. God bless you all in your loss. Love, Stephanie Tucker Little
