Henry Fisher Obituary

Henry Fisher

Virginia Beach - Henry "Bud" Fisher passed away on May 27, 2017 after complications resulting from a heart attack the week prior. Bud was born on October 23, 1941 to Ovenea Constantine Fisher and Harold C. Fisher. Bud was raised in the Norview section of Norfolk and remained a "Norview Boy" to the core ever since. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves as a young man, and retired after 32 years of civil service at both the Norfolk Naval Supply Center and Dam Neck Annex where he was a Combat Systems Integration Test Officer and eventually retired as a Public Affairs Officer for Combat Direction Systems Activity.

Bud was a generous man with a unique perspective and was a legitimately talented artist. Bud loved surf fishing, history, politics, film, all things Greek (which was everything), and most of all, his family.

Bud is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vickie (Moore); his two sons, Steven Eric (Kimberly) and granddaughter Sophia; Travis (Holly) and two grandsons, Luke and Clark.

In keeping with Bud's wishes, there will be no formal memorial services. His ashes will be appropriately scattered at sea by his immediate family at a later date.

My heart goes out to Vickie and family. I too just lost my dear husband of 54 years and a dear father and grandfather. Bud and Dante worked at the same place in Dam Neck and we always see him in the neighborhood when he goes for a walk. My condolences to you and your family.

Bud was always quick with a joke and a smile. His family was his greatest joy and his art was a close second. He has been missed here at CDSA and he will be missed by many for years to come. - Ginny McCoy

I worked with Bud for many years at CDSA. His efforts in establishing the ACDS and Interoperability Laboratories were critical for the Navy Fleet. Bud was a good employee; generous and very well liked. Bud and his family will be in our prayers.

Bud was a good neighbor and friend. He was always willing to lend a hand or share information. His heartfelt laughter and zest for life will stay with us always. The neighborhood just won't be the same now that he is gone. We will miss him. We give our love and support to sweet Vickie and all the family. We are here if you need anything! Every time we look at Bud's artwork, it will be a reminder of what a great guy he was...one of a kind. God bless Bud!
