So sad to hear of Howie's passing - just got word tonight from my sister. My prayers go to his family for comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding during your time of grief.

I have so many fond memories of Howie and his humbleness, but I'll keep this short. I'll always dearly remember the day he commissioned me into the Army (since my Dad was enlisted and couldn't do it). Howie told me he wouldn't do it if I told them he was a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient (as he didn't want all the pomp and circumstance). I kept my word and we quietly got the job done, though I kept waiting for someone to find out and reprimand me over it. But they never did. And thus began a lifetime of always having the Marines near and dear in my heart despite serving in the Army.

Rest in Peace, Sir! Semper Fi! I'm sure you and my Dad are already having a great reunion in Heaven. God bless!

Sending prayers to all the family during this great loss. My husband and I worked with Howie at Landscape Services from his start to finish. What a kind and wonderful man. Had the honor of working with him on my crew from GK1 til he was promoted to the office position. Rest In Peace Howie. Thank you for your Service in the Military and with the city! You are missed! Was a pleasure knowing you and working with you.

I was so sorry to hear of Howie's passing. I met both he and Jean through my sister and brother-in-law, Col Wesley and Dotti Fox. We enjoyed many visits together. They were both wonderful people and I know will be greatly missed. For everything and everyone, there is a 'season'. We live the best life we can, learning many lessons along the way and hopefully to be in heaven for eternity with our loved ones that go on before us.
My love to the family, Laura and your family and sincere condolences. A life well lived, a 'gentle man' and honorable patriot. May beautiful memories remain yours always.

Chuck and I had the privilege of living in the same apartment complex as the Lees and their older children. After Quantico, our paths never crossed again but we kept in touch until after Jean passed away. We shared the same birthday and many fun times together at Quantico. Blessings to all of his and Jean's children. I was at the White House Ceremony for the Medal of Honor Presentation.

I only met the Colonel once. I considered it an honor.
I worked with his son for 25 years. I considered that an honor.
I will hold the Lee family in my thoughts and prayers. And I will consider that an honor.

May the Lee family know that even strangers as I praise Colonel Lee for his life and actions. I never knew the Colonel, but having had many family members in The Corps as well as in Vietnam, his story and life rings true as a person who only tried to do the right thing at the right time. The world needs more people like Colonel Lee. Semper Fi..
