LEWIS, Charles H. "Dutch", age 82, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2004, at Mercy Fairfield Hospital. Born on August 27, 1922, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary (Lane) Lewis, Sr. On November 1, 1944, in Hamilton, Charlie married Marjorie Johnson. He was a widely known Butler County Dairy Farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church. From 1967 to 1981 Charlie was a member of the Butler Landmark Board, a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau Federation Board and past president from 1963-1964, the Ohio Holstein Association, the Butler County Dairy Service Unit, and the Butler County Extension Advisory Committee. Mr. Lewis received the following awards, the Ed Zorn Memorial Extension Family Award in 1993, the Friend of Agriculture Award in 1997, the Ohio Conservation Farm Family Award in 1995, the Shanghigh Farm Sale Award in 1979, and the Goodyear Conservation Award. He was on the Butler County Fair Board and showed registered Holstein cattle at numerous county fairs, state and national shows for many years. Charlie is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Marjorie Lewis of Hamilton; daughter, Mary Alice Shupp and her husband Robert of Hamilton; son, Wayne Lewis and his wife Deborah of New Vienna, Ohio; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lewis of Orient, Ohio; grandchildren Anissa (David) Collins, Emily Lewis, Nathan Elam and Kim Geisen; great-grandchildren Jacob Collins, Madison Geisen, Nicholas Geisen and Holly Powell; and two loving nephews, Richard and James Lewis of Orient, Ohio. Charlie was also preceded in death by his brother, James M. Lewis. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 10am on Thursday, December 9, 2004. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 13063, Hamilton, OH 45013-0063 or the Butler County Extension Endowment Fund, 1810 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
