James Coburn Obituary

James William Coburn, Jr. passed away Thursday, January 21st at the age of 52 years old. He was born, February 6, 1968 in Norfolk, VA to the late James (Jim) William Coburn, Sr. and Betty Jean Powell. He's survived by his wife of 23 years, Dana Elizabeth Coburn. Their son, James William Coburn, III and daughter Josephine (Josie) Hattie Coburn. His sister, Kim Roach and brother-in-law, John Roach, along with his mother, Betty Jean Coburn and step mother Willene Coburn and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

James was the Branch Manager and Director of Wealth Management of Oppenheimer and Co. He was extremely hardworking and dedicated to his clients. He had many interests including Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do and Kali along with running marathons and triathlons but put those interests on hold to make his children his top priority. He always said once they no longer lived with him he'd resume his personal interests. His children were his world from the moment they existed! He will be remembered as being the best father, husband and friend to his family. He will always be remembered by his witty and oftentimes sharp sense of humor and his Bud Light bike rides.

There is no better husband, father and friend than James. He is a perfect partner, protector and provider. He is our BEST and we love him more! Please express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

James is my step son. I got to know James after I married his dad James William Coburn Sr. He truly was a hard working man who was also a kind and loving person. He helped me very much when his dad died June 26, 2020 just
Six months before he, himself died. It was such a shock to all of us who loved him.

James was a wonderful husband and father. I would see him riding bikes with your children or you. Loved how you did your beer and wine rides. You always spoke of the wonderful things he did for you and spoke of the things he did with your children during Bunco. Hold all those wonderful memories close and dear to your heart. Laugh often, but it is okay to cry as well. May the Peace of God be with you, family and friends during this time. Love you and miss you!
