James Prevette Obituary

James Robert Prevette was born in Spartanburg, SC on November 22, 1932, and entered the arms of Jesus on March 4, 2022. He was lovingly known as Jim, Daddy, and Granddad to his wife, 4 daughters, 10 granddaughters, 4 great granddaughters, and 1 great grandson. To his family and friends he will be remembered for his practical jokes (especially towards his dear wife), caring spirit, unwavering faith, and servant's heart. Jim shared 66 wonderful years with the love of his life. He is survived by his wife Dawn; daughters Raven, Star, Lark (Michael), and Jonquil; granddaughters Allaire, Sagely, Easlin, Tylar, Hayden, Logan, Melissa (Justin), Shiloh (Caleb), Laredo, and Kerrigan; Great granddaughters Peyton, Darynn, River, Larren and great grandson Maddox. Aside from his family, his passion was raising 100 head of prize Angus cattle on a farm in Blackwater. Jim was an active member of the Scottish Rites, Mason's Lodge 218, and Khedive Temple.

Jim had a thirst for knowledge and desire to serve his community through his actions. He attended and received degrees from Delaware University, the School of Divinity at Liberty University, a Certified Financial Planning degree at Old Dominion University, and a Paralegal Degree from Tidewater Community College.

He served 3 years in the army during the Korean War as a morse code operator and medic. Jim owned 3 auto accessory stores in Northern Virginia. He joined Bankers life and Casualty in November of 1964 in the Arlington office. In this office he was frequently among the top 10 of 3,000 agents and appointed district manager in Newport News. He consistently ran the branch and 2 years later he tripled the production. Jim was transferred to the Norfolk branch - he doubled the sales force and tripled production. He hired, trained and appointed insurance agents for 40 years. Jim opened All American Associates Agency in 1972 that operated for almost 50 years. Jim was proud to serve as an ordained minister and was an integral part of the Virginia Beach prison ministry for 10 years.

Jim's memory will serve on through his impact on his family and community. He will be remembered as an inspiration to those lives he touched. Jim never forgot his humble roots and always instilled hope in everyone he met. Until his last breath, he consistently put others' needs above his own.

Funeral will be held March 9th (Wednesday) at 1pm at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home (1264 N Great Neck Rd Virginia Beach, VA), followed by interment at Princess Anne Park and the Celebration Of Life at home, 1428 Alanton Drive, Va.
