Janie Cobb Obituary

Janie M. Cobb NORFOLK - Janie M. Cobb of the 2600 block of Harrell Ave. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at home with family and friends. She was born Jan. 31 to the late Ella L. Jones and Heber Carr in Robersonville, N.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward N. Cobb. Janie was a member of Little Zion Philadelphia Fellowship and she was a retiree from the Ford Motor Company. She is survived by two daughters, Faith Sloan Samuels and Trina Cobb-Allen (Aaron); a special daughter-in-law, Rosalind Sloan, all of Norfolk; one son, Joseph A. Sloan (Jeneen); two special sons, Clinton Taylor and Christopher Cooper; five sisters, Gloria Ellis of Norfolk, Mary Little of Hamilton, N.C., Rosetta Burnette, Regent Everett and Addie Savage all of Oak City, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Antwan Stewart, Brittany Smalls, Desmond Sloan, Antoinette Wiggins, Jaevin Cobb, Joshon Cobb, Asia Sloan, Ayahna Sloan, Christopher Cooper Jr. and Justin Allen; one sister-in-law, Grace Cobb of New York; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
