John Mann Obituary
Hamilton - John Roy Mann, Jr. "Jack" 24, of Hamilton, Va. died suddenly May 8, 2012.
Born October 14, 1987 in Fairfax, Va., Jack was the son of John Roy and Sally Rogers Mann, also of Hamilton, Va.
Jack attended Nysmith School, Kilmer Middle School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology where he played Varsity football, and lacrosse, and swam on the Varsity Swim Team. An all around athlete, he loved golf, tennis and skiing. He also attended the University of Virginia, studying history, literature and french, winning many awards through the years.
Jack was a young man of many talents and interests. He was a gifted musician who played trumpet and completed the Royal Schools of Music exams for piano. He had a passion for cooking and regularly delighted his family and friends with gourmet meals.
In recent years Jack devoted much of his energy to politics, working on several campaigns in 2011 and 2012. He was currently working as an intern at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, writing about political and social issues, and recently had an article published in the New York Post.
Jack had an inquisitive and incisive mind, and a photographic memory. He could engage in lively and intelligent conversation on just about any topic. His gregarious, affable personality won him many friends. He loved to have fun, loved a good joke, and was never at a loss for words.
In addition to his parents, Jack will be deeply be missed by his adoring younger sisters, Elizabeth & Rebecca. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Sally Rogers of Loudon County, Virginia and paternal grandmother, Pat Mann of Virginia Beach, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Arthur W. Mann, Jr. of Virginia Beach.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday May 13 at St. James Episcopal Church, 14 Cornwall Street NW, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 at 3:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, Virginia is handling funeral arrangements.

My condolences to the MANN Family . It was an honor and privilege to have had John in my French class at Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology . He was a bright , inquisitive and congenial student whose laugh was sincere and appreciated by all . Blessed by a wondrous musical talent in Trumpet and Piano , I am sure John will delight those sharing HEAVEN with him.

Dear Sally and Roy, I think of your son often. I remember your advice , which I followed, to take electronics away from Michael. It turned his life around. I am grateful every day for that advice . Dear Mr and Mrs Mann, May God take you by the hand during this most difficult time. Jack was such a delightful student in my French class . He was a bright, energetic and sensitive young man always eager to positively engage in any challenging activity. I can still see where he sat in my class. After teaching 26 years at TJHSST ,i decided to retire. In the 36 years with FCPS ,i have taught thousands of students yet Jack 's contribution and presence in my class will never be forgotten and shall always bring a smile in my heart .
