Katherine Collins Obituary

Katherine L. Collins CAPE CHARLES - Katherine Lambertson Collins, 105, died March 19, 2010 in her residence. Born in Cape Charles, she was a lifelong resident and the ninth of 10 children. She was the retired former owner and operator of Collins Hardware and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Katherine was the widow of Elwood Brantley Collins. She was predeceased by her mother, Bertha Duer and father, William Henry Lambertson. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Katherine Collins of the home, Cape Charles; four nieces, Beatrice L. Ashby, Gloria L. Santacrose, Catherine D. Doughty and Anne L. Smith; one nephew, Luther Travis; many great-nieces and -nephews; many great-great-nieces and -nephews. The family acknowledges with grateful appreciation the devotion of her caregivers. A graveside service will be Monday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in Cape Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Elizabeth Lutz presiding. Fox & James Funeral Home, Eastville, Va., is in charge. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church c/o Ida Mae Robins, 23089 Carr Lane, Cape Charles, VA 23310.
