Kenneth Billings Obituary


Kenneth R. Billings VIRGINIA BEACH - Kenneth Raymond "Ken" Billings, 47, passed away Aug. 11, 2008, in his home. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer and was employed with B.A.E. Systems as a field engineer. While in the Navy, he served on numerous ships and at the White House. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Brooke M. Billings; mother, Edith Hall of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Hannah M. Billings and Aubrey K. Billings; son, Kyle E. Billings, all of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Meshell Billings of West Virginia and Jackie Mitchell of Virginia; and a brother, Herbert M. Billings of West Virginia. A funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Andrew's United Methodist Church with Pastor James C. Ullian officiating. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation at www.epilepsyfoundation.org. Condolences may be made to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

It was such a shock to hear about Ken's sudden passing. Ken and I served together onboard USS Kearsarge and he was always there to lend a hand. Your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers

I am very sorry for your loss. I served with Ken during his WHCA years and participated in his Chief's initiation. Ken and I traveled on many presidential trips together and always had a great time together. Ken will be greatly missed by all of us that served with him.
