Leonardo Gatchalian Obituary

Leonardo Gatchalian VIRGINIA BEACH - Leonardo Valdez "Conrad" Gatchalian, 56, of the 3800 block of Pleasant Valley Road, passed away Sept. 5, 2009, in UVA Hospital. A native of Baguio City, Philippines, he retired from the United States Navy as a senior chief CS after 23 years of service. He was employed with Long Jewelers as a goldsmith for 13 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach, the Naomi Masonic Lodge in Virginia Beach and the Baguio Fil-Am of Tidewater. He is survived by his wife, Delia "Dee" Gatchalian; his mother, Antonia Valdez Gatchalian of Virginia Beach; two stepsons, Fernando Jaime of Texas and Michael Thomas Jaime of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Eugene Gatchalian and wife Agnes of Chesapeake, Arthur Gatchalian and wife Cora, Roy Gatchalian and wife Bennie and George Gatchalian and wife Vilma and a sister, Rebecca Capuno, all of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Noah, Lani and Micah; 10 nieces and nephews, Gerald, Anna, Brian, Kris, Melissa, Robbie, Chelsea, Mark, Maria and Angelo; numerous great-grandchildren and relatives all over the U.S. and in the Philippines. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at The Church of the Ascension with Father James E. Parke officiating. The burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with a wake Thursday at 7 p.m. and Masonic rites Friday at 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
