When I think about my Papaw, the first thing that comes to mind is a passionate heart. He put his heart into all that he did. Everything was 110% or nothing at all. He had the heart of a champion with a determination and grit like no one I've ever seen. He strived to be a mentor, coach, and friend to many. If he loved something or someone, he made sure everyone knew it! He was proud, honorable, and trustworthy. I will miss our laughs, his encouragement, and his wisdom. I'm honored to have shared so many wonderful memories with someone who was more than a grandfather, but a best friend. My papaw will be missed by so many, and even though he can't be here with us in a physical sense, I know he's still with us every step of the way because a love like his never fades.

Rebecca, Abigail, and I are very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. My favorite memories of Doug are from the times he, me, and my Dad would go fishing. Good times. I know he's at peace now, but I know you will miss him greatly. I pray that God will provide you with peace and comfort during this time. We send you all our love.
