Nicholas Meiszer Obituary
Virginia Beach - Nicholas Michael Meiszer, 80, passed away on February 8, 2015. He was born May 8, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Nicholas and Anna Friedrich Meiszer.
He was a graduate of Xavier University and had a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He served 3 years of active duty in the U. S. Army, and 10 years of Army Reserve. Mr. Meiszer was a former City Manager of Austin, Texas, and Albany, Georgia, and County Administrator of Forsyth County, N.C., Chesterfield County, Va., and retired as County Administrator of St. Johns County, Fl. After retirement, he worked for USAID for 7 months in Albania. He was then elected County Commissioner in St. Johns County.
He was a life member of the International City/County Management Assoc., and was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Meiszer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris Vaughan Meiszer, and daughter, Katherine Chandler, her husband, Dr. Rand Chandler, and three granddaughters, Anna, Emily and Evelyn Chandler; sister-in-law, Patricia Meiszer, nieces and a nephew.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church on Feb. 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. with burial immediately following in the Vaughan family plot at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John the Apostle Building Fund. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

Your family is in my thoughts & prayers. In the few years I knew Nick I enjoyed visiting with him at Virginia Oncology, in Pungo and in my office. He was so organized and kept up to date with financial matters that he made my job easy. He always had a smile and a handshake, such a gentleman.
