Pascualita Estock Obituary

Pascualita (Lita) Sultan Estock

Virginia Beach - Pascualita (Lita) Sultan Estock, 86, born May 14, 1930, died peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach on December 30, 2016. The Matriarch of a very large family was only 5' tall, but was an example of strength, courage and perseverance. She was a tough cookie, a true spitfire and always followed her heart. Although sometimes stern to those she loved, she was fair, fiercely protective, and believed her family deserved only the best.

Born in poverty in Bais City, Negros Oriental, Philippines, to Maximo Sultan and Felicidad Chavez, Lita overcame unimaginable obstacles through hard work and sacrifice. Her stories of her colorful youth and life captivated all audiences, who would be left laughing and feeling like they received something tangible from her: a bit of her fire, a memory of her past, or a hint of her inner joy that would inspire and shape them.

She loved baseball, boxing and was a runner. She was a competitive multitasker and a master of the art of bingo. A skilled seamstress and an avid gardener, she loved her rose bushes and created a beautiful home for her husband, her children, and those close to her.

Lita was predeceased by her beloved husband of 34 years, John George Estock Jr. They were the life of every party they attended together, gliding across the dance floor like they were Fred and Ginger.

Her perseverance allowed her to share a long, full, and colorful life with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her children, Jennifer (Phil) Dowds, Ann (Frank) Cabell, Cielo (Kevin Foth) Gomez-Foth, Al Gomez, Garrett (Maricela Rodriguez-Estock) Estock, Mary (Robert Orvin) Estock, and Patricia (Steven) Lauer.

She was Grandmother to DJ Alcazar, Farrida (Shaun) Strayer, Dominic (Sarah) Dowds, Vanessa Val Dere, Natalie Dowds, Corin Estock-Sandino, Cecily (Gene) Arrington, Gianna Estock, Veronica Estock, Alexander Henson, Angelina Estock and Joseph Wilkins Jr. She was also survived by four great-grandchildren, Brandon Alcazar, Logan Blackburn, Gene Arrington V, and Grayson Arrington.

She was protected and comforted by her three dogs, Zöe, Bella, and Molly.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 3, from 6-7:30 pm at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. laskin Road Chapel in Virginia Beach. Friends and family are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 4, at 11 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Lita will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, John, at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.

There are so many things I still had left to say to you. I know in my heart that you didn't need to hear them because you already knew. You are loved deeply.
