Virginia Beach - Pernell Whitaker Jr was born on October 5, 1984 and passed on Tuesday September 1, 2015. His wake will be on Monday September 7, 2015 at the Metropolitan Funeral Home in Berkley from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Pernell's home going service will also be at the Metropolitan Funeral Home in Berkley on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

It was truly an honor and blessing to have known Pernell. He was very funny, kind-hearted and had an upbeat personality. May God give him eternal rest and his family continues to live though his life. I will truly miss him.

I want to start off by telling your mom & dad and cant forget grandma in Brandon... Yall raised a wonderful young man that touched the lifes of so many.
I had spoke to Pern a few days prior about bringing him food... Even tho he couldnt have it. Lol i have so many memories that make me smile. Anytime I ever had something on my heart he gave best 2 cents, prayed with ya than made you laugh about it. I was in army he always came to my homecomings, he was just a great friend all the way around.
I had emergency surgery day of funeral. My surgery was at 130pm your funeral was at 1p.
I tried to go to cemetery today. But almost fainted on 64. I will go and see ya brother soon. Im glad God has a fighter on his team...Rep-pin team Glory now. Partying with Jesus!!
I have another guardian angel.

Dearest Von, it continues to break my heart knowing someone I know has lost a child. You and your family will continued to be in my prayers. I don't know your son. But you always talk proudly about all your boys. You are a remarkable woman. The Lord will continue to hold you and your family in this time and always. He is with you. To Von, Pete and Alice - There are no words to take away the pain you are feeling at this time, but may you find comfort knowing that Per is now pain free. I have such fond memories of him when we lived next door and he came to the house most days after the bus dropped him off. You are all in my prayers.
