Philip Anderer Obituary

Philip R. F. Anderer VIRGINIA BEACH - Philip R. F. Anderer, 89, passed away Oct. 23, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Arthur A. Anderer and Margaret Sparling Anderer and was also predeceased by his wife, Charlotte M. Scholtz Anderer and a daughter, Cheryl I. Anderer. He graduated from Ramsey High School in Allendale, N.J., and attended the Newark College of Engineering. He was an industrial engineer for several New Jersey manufacturing plants for more than 45 years and retired from S. Goldberg & Sons in Hackensack, N.J. He was a league bowler for more than 60 years and an avid chess player. He was a longtime resident of Cranford, N.J., where he was a member, deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Cranford. He moved to Virginia Beach in 1989 and was a member and past elder of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach where he was very active in the Tuesday Men's Bible Prayer Breakfast. He was also a member and past president of Beach Combers Kiwanis Club, a member of AARP, Great Neck Chapter and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia "Cindi" Courter and her husband Steve; and two grandsons, Shaun P. Kaiser, M.D., and Kyle J. A. Courter. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.candfservices.com.
