Richard Cathell Obituary
Chesapeake -
Richard G. Cathell, 86, passed away on August 5, 2015. He was born in Rowlesburg, WV, to the late Charles Cathell and Mae Gaines. He was a retired Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman, with 21 years of service in the US Navy and 20 years with the VA State Health Department. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Portsmouth, VA.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Helen (Witt) Cathell of 65 years; children, David Cathell wife Donna, Kathy Timothy husband Mike; grandchildren, Cheri Lowder husband Brad, Mindy Eddy and husband Jason, Casey Wykle husband Charlie, Kori Timothy; great grandchildren, Zephaniah Eddy, Leah Eddy, Jaxson Lowder, Morgan Wykle; and extended family Ann & Edward Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Sara Thomas, Katie Vaughn, and their respective families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2015, at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Hwy. Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 6:30 pm till 8:00 pm. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.

I noticed Dick's obit in this mornings paper; had no idea he was in this area. My name is Len Freedman from Norfolk. I worked with Dick on the mobile x-ray unit when we were in Pearl Harbor. I was there 54-56 then left for Bethesda. My sincere condolences to the family.
