Sandra Lee Payne

Sandra (Sandi) Lee Payne, 78, passed away January 8, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Princess Anne County to the late John Carroll and Margaret Jones Smith and was predeceased by her brothers James and Everette Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years William Russell Payne; her children Russell Payne, Jr. (Michelle) and Jennifer Payne; her granddaughters, Taryn Payne (Jack) and Marisa Payne; her brothers Trenton Carroll and Buddy Smith (Sharon) and sister Patricia Meads, her sister in law Nancy Glover, a host of nieces and nephews and her beloved Corgi, Lucy. Sandi was an extraordinary Wife and Mother and loved being a homemaker. She will be remembered by many as the baker of Hot Tuna's famous coconut cake. Sandi's unfailing warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Patricia Meads, her sister, for her dedicated loving care during Sandra's last weeks.
