Sean Sands Obituary

Sean Lee Sands

Virginia Beach - Sean Lee Sands, 34, died unexpectedly on January 30, 2016.

Sean was the son of Judi A. Sands and the late Maxwell Jones of Virginia Beach, and James P. Sands of Virginia Beach. Always ready for excitement, Sean was born in a hurry in his parent's home in Virginia Beach on January 21, 1982. He graduated in 2000 from First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach and in 2006 from James Madison University. After college, Sean worked for Monarch Mortgage and PAPCO before settling into a career in chemical sales at Quad Chemical Corporation. Sean traveled extensively for work and was cherished by his work family far and wide.

Sean is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Nicole Sands; adoring daughter, Isabella Rose Sands; and a much-loved arrival expected in August 2016. He is also survived by his sisters, Lindsay A. Sands and Jessica Jones Miller (Ricky) of Virginia Beach; stepbrother, Jeremy Jones; his mother and father-in-law, John and Sarah Hall; maternal grandparents, Betty and William Carpenter; maternal great- grandmother, Lillian Gladys Rumley, Nicole's grandmother, Frances Glover, all of Virginia Beach; brothers-in-law, Chris Hall of PA, Brian (Maura) Hall of SC and Brett (Casey) Barley of NC; many aunts, uncles, cousins, a nephew, countless friends, and his beloved chocolate Labradors Diggy and George Sands.

Sean was a devoted husband, father and son, an avid golfer, boater and snowboarder. Sean loved country music, the American flag, and all things that go fast. His favorite days were spent sharing his love of life with those who knew him, especially his wife and daughter. Sean would want you to know that he loved his family and treasured his friends.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach. A reception will follow the service at Chick's Oyster Bar, 2143 Vista Circle, Virginia Beach, at 4 pm. Incredible guy. We are all fortunate to have known him. The entire ocean front is in mourning. I loved seeing him surfing with Isabella on his board and made me want to be a better father. To the family, I'm truly sorry for your loss and only hope and pray the God relieves some anguish knowing he lived the life others can only dream of. An exceptional man and I will think of him and his family often. I literally feel sorry for those who never met him because I'm a better man for knowing him

Jim, remember all the stories you told me about Sean and Lindsay growing up? There was a certain phrase Sean would say but couldn't pronounce it correct.
I know you are so proud of him. You and your family are in our thoughts.

I met Sean by chance while working at Rudees. We found a common bond as my wife had been his neighbor. I was fortunate enough to have worked on that old gray Toyota of his when he was in high school. And then yet again on that big Ford he had. I recall a very soft spoken, respectful, considerate, and intelligent man. I feel humble to have known him.

Dear Nicole and Family,
I have such fond memories of Sean. He was bigger than life and lived life on his own terms, always. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was touched by him. I am sorry that I will be out of town and miss the celebration of his life. Please know that I am thinking of all you and keeping you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
