Jackie McHargue Obituary

Jackie Donald McHargue, 81, of Lebanon Junction, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Norton Hospital.
The youngest of 10 children, he was born April 15, 1936, to Luther Alexander McHargue Sr. and Mattie Carmichael McHargue. Jackie was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction and graduated from Lebanon Junction High School in 1954, where he played on the district winning high school team. He retired from General Electric in 1994 after 40 years.
He loved camping, family get togethers and sing-a-longs, classic country music, his pets, Rocky and Sparky, and he was especially proud of his annual McHargue family reunions that he hosted for approximately 20 years, beginning in 1986. He was also known to grow tomato plants as tall as his house.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Alexander McHargue Sr. and Mattie Carmichael McHargue; sisters, Ruby Mullins, Helen Phillips, Thelma Pence, Mildred Durham, Nauneral McManigle, Martha Rose Watkins and Ina Penrod; and brothers, Luther McHargue Jr. and William McHargue.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Lee McHargue, who he married in 1971. She was his wife, partner, soul mate and love of his life. He is also survived by his daughter, Deidre Curtsinger of Louisville; four sons, J.D. (Lisa) McHargue of Lexington, Ronald (Kathy) McHargue of Mount Washington, Darrell McHargue of Shepherdsville and Philip (Angel) McHargue of Lebanon Junction; 10 grandchildren, Ethan McHargue, Hannah McHargue, Mia McHargue, Trey McHargue, Amy (Tyler) Hall, Christopher McHargue, JHoey Tyrrell, Katie Tyrrell, Kristy Curtsinger and Julie Kelty; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Hall, Maggie Hall, Ian Hollon, Bella Waits, Kennedy Tyrrell and Roxanne Humfleet.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Juntion with Bro. Jason McCray officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Junction City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
