KEWANEE - Ardis Arlene Snyder, 88, of Kewanee, formerly of Wyoming and Princeville, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Ill.
Ardis was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Wyoming, Ill., to Robert and Jessie Wilkinson Bawn. She married Kenneth Milo Snyder on May 18, 1946, in Peoria. He preceded her in death, as well as her parents; an infant sister, Lavonna Bawn; and a half sister, Blanche Bawn.
Surviving are her seven children, Nancy Snyder of Kewanee, Clifford (Cindy) Snyder of Bloomsdale, Mo., Kenalene (Farron) Forbeck of Peru, Kenny (Rose) Snyder, Melanie (Clint) Block and David Snyder, all of Neponset, and Marilyn (Kevin) Collins of Kewanee; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly Guinn, Kristine Snyder, Cheryl Phillips, Emily Snyder, Rebecca and Justin Forbeck, Michelle Roth, Darren Snyder, August and Freya Block, Dalton Snyder and Austin Collins; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Nora, Harper, Henry and Landen; three great-great-grandchildren, Hayden, Gage and Maximus; three sisters, Gleynafa (Eddie) Page of St. Louis, Mo., and Jean Eckman and Karen Nunez, both of Camp Grove; and cousin, Robert Simpson of Waterloo, Iowa.
She enjoyed singing, yodeling, reading and writing. She was very proud that a news article she wrote for the Kewanee Star Courier was distributed nationally by the Associated Press.
Ardis loved to research genealogy and was a Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) member.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 14, 2015, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Wyoming. The Rev David Hamilton will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Neponset Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Buda Rescue.
