Charles Davis Obituary

Chillicothe - Charles "Nick" N. Davis, age 37, of 129 W. Oak St., Chillicothe, Ill., died at 1:25 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006, the result of an accident at the American Power Boat Association National Championships in Dupue, Ill.

He was born in Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 13, 1968, the son of Charles F. and Marjorie Anne Dunbar Davis. He married Lauri Jo Leon on June 25, 1991, in Peoria, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Joshuah Burton, Jeremy Burton, Zachary Davis, Heather Davis and Nicholas Shelby Davis of Chillicothe; one sister, Crystalle A. (and Mark) Grant of Chillicothe; and his parents of Chillicothe.

He was employed at Waugh Foods in Peoria for the past 11 years. He was a graduate of Illinois Valley Central High School and Illinois Central College.

He started racing boats in 1988 and won the 500 Sprint Hydro national title in 2004. He enjoyed boat racing, having won several other titles and championships. He was a member of the US Title Series, American Power Boat Association and Peoria Casting Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Chillicothe.

Memorials may be made in care of his children.

I wanted to express my deep condolences. Nick was one of both my Son's best friends. I know he will be greatly missed. Scott and Steve both loved him like a brother.
