Diane Morrill Obituary

Diane M. Morrill
PEORIA - Diane Marie Morrill, 50 of Sugar Grove, Illinois, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at home, surrounded by family, after a valiant, courageous battle with breast cancer.
Diane was born in Peoria, Illinois, on September 14, 1969, to Allan and Lois Hultgren. She was preceded in death by her dad, Allan.
Diane grew up in a loving household, which included her brother, Jeff; and sister, Michele. In college, at the University of Illinois, Diane studied music education and went on to become the orchestra director at Indian Trail Junior High in Addison, Illinois, where she taught for 27 years.
She was united in marriage to Steve Morrill on November 2, 1996, and a few years later they welcomed son, Griffin; and then, Jackson. Diane truly loved her boys and beamed with prideful joy as she helped guide them successfully toward adulthood.
Diane was a "kid-centered" orchestra teacher, driven to instill a love of music in her students, while at the same time helping them grow to become empathetic, considerate adults. She lived a life of kindness and service, exemplifying grace, while putting the needs of others before her own.
Diane is survived by her husband, Steve; and her children, Griffin and Jackson. Other survivors include her mother, Lois of East Peoria, Illinois; her brother, Jeff of East Peoria; and her sister, Michele (Brett), and their two children, Lilly and Mayson of Union, Missouri. Diane also leaves behind her father-in-law, Walter (Elaine) Morrill of Madison, Indiana; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A scholarship fund in Diane's name will be set up to support middle school orchestra students at Indian Trail Junior High in Addison, Illinois.
Diane will be buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Illinois. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Mrs. Morrill will continue forever in my mind as the best and most genuine teacher ever. She continues to strive my love for music and orchestra. I stopped playing viola after her passing as I would never be able to find someone as motivating as she was with her students. I still remember her to this day and pray her family continues to do well.

Mrs Morrill was the best teacher a student ever asked for. she was the reason I continued playing the violin, ever since her passing I gave up my violin and have never played it since. My heart broke when I heard she had passed. I hope she knew she had a big impact on my life. I miss you daily Mrs Morrill.

Mrs. Morill was the best teacher that I have ever had in my entire life. I am going to be a freshman in high school, and the the four years she was my teacher, she inspired me more and more to play the violin in orchestra. She was a light in everyones day, and she was always there for everyone, before herself. To Mrs. Morills family, I am very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Morrill was the first teacher to have an impact on me. Shes part of the reason I am who I am today and I will never forget what she had taught me. Shes the reason I fell in love with music and pursued the violin. I will always be grateful for everything she has done for me, and how much she believed in me. She pushed me to be the best I could, to perform, and compete in every music competition out there. Thank you, Mrs. Morrill for being such an incredible educator and shining so much light on your students. You will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to the family.

Condolences to the morrill family. She was my 4-8th grade teacher and were were the last class she had. She inspired me so much, she was such an amazing person and we all loved her very much. I will never forget her because she changed my life. When she gave me the outstanding musician award last year it made me feel special, like I was needed, I finally felt like I was at home. She pushed me to go beyond my skills, she showed me how to play the bass and it was one of the best choice of my life. She would come before school or stay after school to help me and she was always funny. she will always be in our hearts.

Prayers and condolences to the Morrill Family. Teaching 5th grade in District 4 for 18 years afforded me the honor of working with Diane for many of them. We had great heart-to-hearts and always made each other laugh even when life would get us down. Diane always taught with a smile on her face and music in her heart. The countless students whose lives she enriched are forever blessed to have called her their teacher. She had such patience with our beginner musicians and they loved going to orchestra. I can still see her at concerts tuning cellos and rosining bows to help her students all while calming their jitters. God bless Diane, and God bless you all...

Diane defined the first 7 years of my teaching career, both as a mentor and close friend. I was the choir director, and taught orchestra lessons with her through the entire district. She was always so kind and wanted the best for everyone - there's no one that could possibly say anything negative about her. I'm so blessed to have known her. Much love to her family.
