PEORIA - Doris Elaine Christine, 87, of Peoria, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at UnityPoint-Proctor.
She was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Hamilton, Ill., the daughter of Guy and Dorothy Mohart Martin. Doris married Kenneth Christine on Dec. 7, 1951, in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death in June of 1975.
She is survived by one son, Robert Christine of Macomb; two daughters, Denise Christine of Peoria, and Norma (Ray) Feltman of Lansing, Ill.; one brother, Jack Martin of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Robert Thompson of New York, Charity Thompson of Norfolk, Va., Niki Duffy of Macomb, Ill., Jennifer Self of Sauk Village, Ill., Robert Gardner Jr. of Sauk Village, Ill., Tom Trias of Colchester, Ill., Kenny Christine of Macomb, Ill., and Guy (Toya) Christine of Bloomington, Ill.; and eight great-grandchildren, Madeline, Abigail and James Duffy, Joey and Sammy Gonzales, Adian and Moria Trias, and Gavin Christine; and Dan Duffy, father of Madeline, Abigail, James and Izabelle.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and one great-granddaughter, Izabelle Duffy.
She worked as an inventory control clerk for Dadant Beekeeping Supplies and then became a purchasing agent for Morse Rubber Products until her retirement.
Doris was a member of the Methodist Church in Hamilton, Ill.
She was also a former city councilwoman in Hamilton, Ill.
Doris was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed ballgames, her grandchildren, and embroidery.
To those who knew and loved her she was the original "Maxine."
Cremation rites will be accorded. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude or UnityPoint-Methodist Hospice.
