CHILLICOTHE - Edward J. Watkins, 66, of Chillicothe died at his home on Wednesday morning, Sept. 7, 2015.
Ed was born on June 28, 1949, in Stuttgart, Ark., the son of Robert E. and Ruth L. (Ozenski) Watkins.
Ed is survived by his son, Edward J. (Jocelyn) Watkins Jr. of Dunlap: two daughters, Dina (Ted) Rufkahr of St. Charles, Mo., and Sharlene (Jon) VanOrder of Peoria; two stepsons, Mitch (Dolly) Wright of Gainesville, Fla., and Brett Wright of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Anthony, Chelsy, Ben and Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Ed worked for Komatsu American Corporation in Peoria.
He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club.
Ed was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Ed enjoyed the water; he loved to boat. He also had a passion for old cars, like his 1957 Chevy that he would drive and take to car shows.
Ed's wish was to be cremated. Visitation will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, from 2 to 3 p.m. A memorial service will then be held following the visitation at the funeral home with burial and military rites at the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
