GOODFIELD - Farrel Lee Salyer, 85, of Goodfield passed away at 1:32 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington, Ill.
He was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Chickasha, Okla., to Stephen and Lacy Salyer. He married Connie Honeg on Aug. 17, 1973, in Goodfield. She survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, three daughters, five sons and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, two daughters, three brothers and two sisters.
Farrel worked part time for the Woodford County Sheriff's Department for several years. He later became a self-employed electrician before retiring as plant foreman from Page II, Inc. in Bartonville.
Farrel was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Eureka American Legion. He was also a member of the Eureka Gun Club, Pekin Moose Lodge and Goodfield Baptist Church.
Farrel loved gardening and helping people in any way he could. He also loved sharing stories of his life experiences (there were many) and he was a firm believer of what "the Good Book" said. He will be loved and missed by many.
Per Farrel's request, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation will be accorded.
Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Farrel's family to help with final expenses.

Praying for God's comfort in the loss of this great guy. I loved working elections with him and listening to his life stories and references to the "good book ". It was a privilege to have known him. God bless his family.
