He was blessed with two long marriages, first to Helen (Eggerth) Crane in 1950 until her death in 1980. He married Marilyn (Williams) Crane in 1982, enjoying a loving marriage of 34 years. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by his brother, Benjamin F. Crane of Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Katherine C. Teske (James) of Dayton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sherry Crane of Eau Claire, WI; stepdaughter, Lilli Davis (Walt) of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Brian Teske (Melissa), Eric Teske (Chris), Karin Teske, Kevin Crane (Stephanie), Ryan Crane (Meredith), Chelsea Crane and Melanie Davis; and great-grandchildren Jackson, Dane and Griffin Teske.

My father fought with Dr. Crane while he was in the army. I have his brief memoirs he wrote from the war, he was quite a soldier. I also have an incredible picture of my dad with Fred. I would love to share the picture and the memoirs with his family, if you don´t have them already. [email protected].

Dr. Crane was one of the professors I worked for in Biological Sciences Dept at Purdue. My office was next to his in the basement. Every time he brought me work he had a ready smile and he seemed like a very kind man. I enjoyed working for him from 1968 to 1973. My condolences to his wife and family.

Dear Marilyn and Fred's family, I greatly enjoyed interacting with Fred while we were colleagues at Purdue in Biological Sciences. Fred was always helpful to junior colleagues like me and gave us great advice. I enjoyed seeing Fred and Marilyn after their retirement when they returned to campus for events. Since the time I left Purdue for Western Washington, I have missed those meetings. My condolences to you all. Take care, Joann Otto
