Gerald W. Simpson
PEORIA - Gerald "Maddog" William Simpson, 70, of Peoria passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Danville VA Palliative Care Unit at 6:40 p.m.
Gerald was born in Peoria on May 30, 1947, to Evelyn B. (Sweet) and Robert W. Simpson.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Shelley) Simpson and Michael Simpson; four daughters, Sabrina, Terina, Karla and Aariel Simpson; sisters, Linda (Jim) Ray and Pam (Brian) Crow; brother, Don (Karen) Simpson; nephew, Bob (Sue) Sweet; grandsons, Austin and Braxston Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sandy Brown and Patricia Knighton.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp from June 30, 1964, to March 30, 1971, serving in two tours in Vietnam, where he earned the purple heart, combat action ribbon, M14 rifle marksmanship badge and Vietnamese service medal with three stars.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. July 30, 2017, at Mickie's Pizzeria in East Peoria.
