BARTONVILLE - Hazel L. Denton, 93, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Bartonville, Ill., and Warsaw, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in Florida.
She was born on June 13, 1916, in Warsaw, Ill., a daughter of Harry Lee and Mary Jane Grant Sillick. She married Morrell Denton on July 8, 1995. He survives in Venice, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Charles (Nadine) Palmer of Peoria, Ill., Carol Vicary of Venice, Fla., David Duncan of Chicago, Ill., Arthur Palmer of Bartonville, Ill., Marvin (Dory) Palmer of Oswego, Ill., Wayne (Robin) Palmer of Bartonville, Ill., and Arlene Sherwin of Bartonville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and two brothers, John & Harry Sillick.
Hazel graduated from Warsaw High School in Warsaw, Ill., in 1934.
She loved music and played many instruments.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Hazel especially loved the time she spent with her family.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Lam-porte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton with Pastor Jim Ruberg officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ill. Visitation also will be held on Friday between 11 a.m. and the time of the services at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home of Hamilton.
A memorial has been established for TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, earmarked to North Port.
