Peoria - Helen Deloris Caughey, 90, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, in Scottsdale.
Helen was born Dec. 13, 1918, in East Peoria, Ill., to Roy and Effie Mae (Bohannon) Arnold. On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Delbert Caughey in Burlington, Iowa. He passed away Nov. 16, 2006.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Alan) Mayes of Newport Beach, Calif., Thomas (Rebecca) Caughey of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert (Marilyn) Caughey of Peoria, Ill., and Nancy (Patrick) Dickerson of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Marian Hybiske of Pasadena, Calif., and Joanne (Robert) Conley of Fontana, Calif.
Preceding her in death were her son, David; daughter-in-law, Eleanor; and her two brothers, Ervin and James Arnold.
Upon retirement, she and Delbert moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1981.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Peoria, Ill., and Scottsdale Methodist Church of Scottsdale, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in California. Arrangements have been entrusted to Messinger Mortuaries of Scottsdale, Ariz.
