Jacob Kester Obituary
TREMONT - Jacob D. Kester, 28, of Tremont, IL, formerly of Pekin, IL, passed away at 2:09 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Jake was born on October 23, 1988, in Pekin, IL, to Julie (Potts) Kester and Mark Kester.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Kester; and grandparents, Oliver and Mary (Green) Kester.
Surviving are his fiancé, Bridget Emery of Tremont, IL; one daughter, Zoey Kester of Tremont, IL; mother, Julie Kester of Pekin, IL; one sister, Tabitha (Donald Dillon) Kester of Pekin, IL; one grandfather, James Potts of Apache Jct., AZ; four aunts, Bonnie (Potts) Caryl of Mesa, Diana Johnson and Vickey Major, both of Pekin, and Tina (Tom) Hanson of Amarillo, TX; one uncle, Mickey (Kathie) Kester of Topeka, IL; stepmother, Rhonda Kester of Pekin, IL; one step-sister, Alicia (Zach) Parkinson of Pekin; and one step-brother, David (Emily) Brackney of South Pekin, IL.
Jake graduated from Pekin High School in May of 2007 and graduated from Lincoln College of Technology in July of 2008. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Peoria Public School Transportation Department since August of 2010. Jake was a proud and loving father and loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, going shooting and working on his mustang.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pekin Avanti's Dome.
Abts Mortuary has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.

I've known you since you were just a boy........ you grew up to be a fine young man. I will never forget that small boy sitting on my roof watching shooting stars with Jeff....... then going off to college so far away....... from now on when I'm star gazing and see a shooting star I will think of you...... we will always miss you Jake.........

I worked with Jake at Peoria Public Schools. He was an amazing school bus technician and cared for the safety of the students that rode the school buses he maintained. Jake always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help out anyway he could. You will be missed, Jake. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to know you.

I am so sorry Tabi and your mom. I remember when you lived in the apartments by the car wash and you had your 10th bday party and you and your brother had bunk beds. Even though I did not know him personally I so so sorry for your loss and you just losing your father a fews ago. I can not imagine the sadness you are going through. Tabitha, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and I wish to send my deepest sympathies to you and your families.
Although I've never met your brother, I wish we had because I've been a heavy equipment diesel Mech/Tech with all the certifications, diplomas etc. for 30+ yrs. and I'm sure we would have had a lot of common ground with that. I could have shown him lots of 'short cuts' to make his job easier & more productive, AND I'm sure we'd have become great friends ☺
