James Maloney Obituary

James Maloney
EUREKA - James Duward Maloney, 79, of Eureka, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on June 30, 1941, in Eureka, IL, to Duward and Jane Maloney.
Jim is survived by his wife, Francoise Maloney of Eureka, IL; two siblings, Randy (Dawn) Maloney and Sally (Steve) Onnen; three children, Mark Maloney of Peoria, IL, Michelle Maloney of Morton, IL, and Sandy Nauman of Angie, LA; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Maloney of Peoria, IL, Lucas Maloney of Peoria, IL, and Kaleb Stigler of Madisonville, LA; and 1 great-grandchild, Camden Stigler of Madisonville, LA.
Jim was proud to be born, raised and live in Eureka, IL. He was a 4-year letterman at EHS. At 18, he joined the Air Force, where he met his wife, Francoise, in France. Francoise would move to Eureka, IL, where they would share 57 years of marriage. Baseball was a big part of Jim's life. He played throughout high school and with the Air Force. He coached little league and had the opportunity with his brother to take hitting and batting practice at Wrigley Field. He never missed watching a Cubs game. After 30-plus years, he retired from Caterpillar. He was a diehard Cubs fan, Bears fan and Fighting Illini fan. He enjoyed the simple things in life: golfing with his brother (and even got a hole in one!), being a member of the American Legion of Eureka, IL, and tending to his yard, garden and roses.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka, IL.
In lieu of flowers, send a donation to American Legion Baseball, PO Box 97, Eureka, IL 61530; or Apostolic Christian Life Points, 2025 Veterans Road, Morton, IL 61550.
