Jerry Cline
TOLUCA - Jerry L. Cline, 78, of Toluca, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday January 30, 2018, 10:25 p.m. at Heritage Health, Minonk.
Memorial services will be held Saturday February 3, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Christian Church Toluca. The Rev. Robert Idell will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to time of service on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Bell Plain Baptist Cemetery, Pattonsburg. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jerry was born June 28, 1939, in Washburn, IL to Oran and Esther (Cook) Cline. He married Joann Fleeman on July 15, 1961, at Antioch Christian Church, Toluca. She survives in Toluca.
Also surviving are his children, Gene (Sandy) Cline, and Jenny (Jim) Laney, both of Toluca; his grandchildren, Justin, Amber and Dallas Cline, Andrew, Amanda and Alex Laney; his sister, Lois (Jim) Henry Peterson of Phoenix, AZ; his brothers, Les (Faye) Cline, of Peoria, Kenneth (Maryann) Cline, of Warrenton, MI, and Pete (Maryann) Cline, of Germantown Hills; and six great-grandchildren.
His parents, his infant twin brother, Larry, twin infant sisters, and a sister, Betty Scott, preceded him in death.
Jerry served his country in the United States Army for two years after he graduated from LaRose High School.
He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, where he served as deacon for many years. He will be remembered as the "Candy Man" at church, always passing out candy to everyone.
Jerry worked for over 38 years for B.F. Goodrich, Henry, owned and operated Gene's Electric, in Toluca from 1994 to 2012, some of the time working with his son. He had served as president of the Bell Plain Baptist Cemetery Association and also as sexton for many years.
He will also be remembered as enjoying to help anyone who needed his help and especially the elderly.
His greatest joy in life was to work and to help someone out.
He was also known as the "Popcorn Man". He and his wife would deliver popcorn to friends and neighbors at Christmas time. This was done for many years.
Jerry was also known for writing his poems, writing hundreds of them, and for his painting done on saw blades.
