PEORIA - John A. Sergison of Peoria passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the age of 85.
John was born in East Chicago on March 8, 1936, to Dannetta Diane (Tumbry) and John Allen Sergison. In 1941, the family moved to Gary, Indiana, and John attended Gary Edison schools. In 1957, John obtained a B.S. in History from Perdue University. 1958 brought work at the New York Public Library in Manhatten, while also graduating Colombia University with a Masters in Library Sciences. Thereafter, John joined Caterpillar and retired from the Technical Information Center in 1992. He also worked evenings at the Peoria Public Library in the downtown Science & Technology Department from 1967 to 1974. With his (1st) wife Inge (Pfleger), he has three sons. Michael John, Jim Robert and Daniel Peter. John married Donna Harding in 1983 and the lived happily together until her passing in 2015. He subsequently lived with his son, Jim, in Chillicothe. John avidly read and enjoyed boating and travel. The United Methodist Church of London Mills and First Federated Church of Peoria were also his devotion.
